WHAT'S BRUIN?

I have a confession to make. Hockey hasn't been my strong point over the years and still really isn't. I understand the game, I watch the game from time to time, but never has it grabbed my full attention until now. Why is this a problem you might ask? The Boston Bruins are on top of the National Hockey League and they are smoking competition to say the least. Yeah, yeah we get it. So what's the big deal? Don't mess it up Boston! Listen, I'm excited about being excited about hockey and frankly, I want it to stay that way. I don't want this to turn into my early for the Boston Red Sox where my ambitions get built up throughout the year and then nothing but disappointment at the end of the year. I haven't really experienced success with the Bruins since I've known what hockey is. I've always thought, hey they can win on NHL '09 so why can't they be successful in real life? Well now they have a great chance but I swear if they find a way to crumble towards they end of the year, I don't know if I can forgive them and the National Hockey League will lose something they can't afford to lose, a fan.

DON'T BE SUCH A WIMP!

Growing up, while learning the game of basketball, I was taught about fouls and knowing when to back away and when to hold your ground. During that time, I took my fair share of beatings, bumps and bruises but it didn't turn me away from the game. What is going on with flops in the NBA?! Men, and I use that term loosely, are slamming their six foot plus or seven foot plus and 250 pound plus bodies to the ground after a fan opens the gym doors and allows a draft to zigzag through the stadium. It seems like offensive players are just giving the opponent a stare and in turn, causes that opponent to fold like a lawn chair. I like how the NBA has enforced rules about "flopping" but the league is still becomming weak or soft. These players in the NBA are monsters. They live at the gym and eat metal plates every meal. Seemingly 32942759 fouls are called throughout a regulation NBA game. Stop being soft! Don't make me say, while sitting on my couch and eating my cheetos, that I could have defended your opponent better than that rather than flopping to the floor. Be tough. Case closed.

FLY LIKE A....CARDINAL?

You have got to be kidding me right now. It has happened. The Arizona Cardinals have made the improbable run to play in the 43rd Super Bowl next month. They will be facing a team a little more expected to be there in the Pittsburgh Steelers. Why does this make me angry? The Arizona Cardinals entered the playoffs with 9 wins along with the Philadelphia Eagles, who the Cardinals played to get to the Super Bowl. WHAT ABOUT THE BELOVED NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS?! 11-5 just doesn't cut it these days. Also not helping the matter, the Patriots division wasn't decided until the very last day of the regular season. The Cardinals practically won their division after like 6 wins. I am having a big problem with playoff systems, or lack thereof, in the last week or so. NFL, listen to me! I'm not even a Patriots fan, I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan, but for the love of football, put the most deserved teams in the playoffs! You know, I know, teams and owners know, that parody in the NFL works well for fans and in the Cardinals case, teams; it does not work well for the NFL and they know it! If the Cardinals win the Super Bowl, that does almost nothing for the league and the only organziation helped by a Cardinals win is the Cardinals. Want to make more money in a down time for the economy in this country? The better teams must play in the playoffs!

WHAT A BUNCH OF BCS!

The Bowl Championship Series is the system that sets up a college football championship games or bowl games for deserved teams. But is it really based around "deserved" teams making it to a championship game? To me, it feels as though deserved teams are being left out and I'm not happy! Instead of 423895743690734 different bowl games, (not an accurate number but closer to an estimate), just take 8-10 of the top college football teams in the United States and formulate a playoff system that gives those teams a fair shot at a title game. An example of this would be the system the NBA has and stop feeling sorry for those teams that don't get into a big-time bowl game! I'm tired of a computer system telling us how college football games should be organized. We need to use our own minds and make rational decisions and formulate a reasonable playoff system for college football. Hey Mr. Know-it-all at the top of the BCS system, you want to put the most deserved teams in the championship game? GIVE THEM A PLAYOFF SYSTEM THEY DESERVE! I gaurantee that two well deserved teams will be in that title game!
